In some of the mplayer distribution - there is supposed to be a build of mplayer for OSX 10.3.9. I think this fact would not be in the AlienBBC instructions as I think the practice is a recent one (i.e. from version 1.0rc1) .
Where did you get the mplayer distribution from ?
