Hi Folks, triggered by the extremely annoying TheWeatherChannel "policy enforcement mail", I spend some time looking into Wunderground as an alternative (and liberal) data provider. That looks promising and can mostly replace TWC one by one.
I already committed some preliminary code at Google Code (http://weathertime.googlecode.com). It still needs some polish, though. That's why I am not releasing any package at this time, but if anyone with programming skills would like to take a look, just checkout the "7.0a version" branch from the SVN repository and give it a go. Things I could use help for include: * Research: Can Wundergrounds XML API be queried for localized condition texts (that would free us from the need to handle all the translations ourselves)? * Test: Do the delivered wind directions map correctly to the strings in the application? * Code: Remove the Partner / License settings from the code and setup screen. * Strings-Update: Update the instructions for finding the location identifier (Wunderground works best with IATA airport codes as location ids). * Code: Replace TWC logo with Wunderground logo.
