I have not really used custom browse at all yet -- I am very new to squeezebox, but I will chime in. I hope this is not too off topic... I have an iPod, but generally use Linux for my operating system. I also have a Macbook. I use flac on Linux, and generally use that as my "archive". Squeezecenter also runs on the Linux box. The biggest problem I have run into, is song ratings. Since there is no standard for storing rating information in the tags, each music "system" implements it's own. Since Songbird is now at version 1, and can be built on virtually any platform, I would like to make it my "standard". The trick is then to come up with various ways of importing the Songbird information into the other music system that I use, such as squeezecenter. Best solution would be for the ratings to be stored in the tags. I really don't know why that is not done.
