Thanks for the suggestion. I have followed the steps you suggested and it works - the computer stays hibernated.
Unfortunately, SC is now unresponsive when the computer is restarted (when I right click the tray icon and choose 'open squeezecenter', a new tab opens in my browser but just hangs on 'loading'. I'm assuming that it must be something to do with SCPowertool.exe then? I think that a reboot will get SC working again.
