The log didn't go on long enough to see what happens after mplayer is started but things look ok but it seems either connection times out or mplayer is not running.
Since about June (due to funding) BBC have dropped streams rate of RealAudio ack from 64kbits/sec to about 48kbits/sec. This means the time taken to start a live stream has gone back up to about 10 sec.
