I've check the release and re tested installs on Ubuntu on 7.3.4 as well as 7.4 and I have no problem.
The only common factor I see is the use of Linux versions which are not SC mainstream and so there may be a subtle issue (e.g. user id running SC). I presume all users with this problem are trying to upgrade from 2.04. After installing 2.05 - were there any error message in the log file. The only difference (besides code change) in the ZIP files used by Extension Download is that in 2.04 ZIP is that 2.05 have group "w" enabled for .PM and .html files. Perhaps you could stop SC, change the permissions of ther plugin files and restart. The other possibility is a problem (e.g. permissions / ownership with automatic "upgrading" (2.04 -> 2.05) of the Findart prefs file.
