Have you tried with another album? If your hard drive takes a while to spin up, then you will not get images for the first album you access and that result is cached so that album will not show images during that session. But if you choose a second album when the hard drive is up and running you should hopefully see the images. I had the same issue and it took some investigation to find out what was going on.
