Oh I should have read this first.

I deleted the iPeng app file on the mac, in order to force the mac to
redownload the app from itunes.

The ipod never had ipeng on it, so it is not an update.

I am trying to force an install from the mac, because I cannot install
ipeng on the ipod, it is failing. I have never had an app fail more than
once.

Sometimes due to intermittant network an initial local app install on an
iphone or ipod would fail, but it almost always works on the second try,
but I have tried a bunch of times on a good wifi network and the app
refuses to install on the ipod.

When I get home tonight I will try and install locally on the ipod
first.

The other thing I noticed is that on the iphone, it did do the update
locally over the network, but itunes on the mac for some reason was not
noticing that the iphone ipeng was newer than what was on the mac and
not updating the version on the mac.

I deleted the app on the mac which forced mac itunes to re-download and
now the mac itunes is showing the correct version.
