Hm, so it seems that disabling transcoding broke SoftSqueeze *or at least re-enabling got everything working again. The odd thing is that I only disabled it this evening to see if that was the cause of the "Can't open file" problems that manifested a couple days ago, so I can't really account for what was going on.
