By 'renderer' is simply meant a chromecast player (the term is usually used for UPnP players and the user guide may have some terminology related to those).
As to ports, if you are prepared to give things a try, switch off the firewall for a minute and restart the plugin. The chromecast device should show as a normal LMS player. Then switch the firewall back on. If it worked when the firewall was off then you need to find out which ports to open. Hopefully someone here will advise which ones are required. LMS 7.9 on VortexBox Midi box, Xubuntu 14.04, FLACs 16->24 bit, 44.1->192kbps. LMS plugin UPnP/DLNA Bridge to MF M1 CLiC (to 405/2 amp & ESLs) & Marantz CR603 UPnP renderers. Alternatively Minimserver & Upplay to same & to upmpdcli/mpd PC renderers. Squeezelite to Meridian USB Explorer DAC to PC speakers/headphones. Wireless Xubuntu 15.10 laptop firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with Squeeze-Commander/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver.
