Well that took less time than I expected - I set up LMS (same version as
on the 2012 Server but the WHS add-in package) on the Windows Home
Server box, installed iPlayer v1.3.1alpha and copied over the updated
BBCXMLparser - switched library to point the WHS one and the BBC streams
work fine, no re-buffering at all. So it must be something to do with
the 2012 install (the WHS box is an HP Mediaserver, Celeron process and
2GB RAM so it's waaay less powerful than the 2012 Server).

I tried to fix the problem by re-installing Squeezecenter to the latest
version (as written in the first post) but that had no impact. Any ideas
on what else I can try?
