Actually, that's precisely what I'm after. All of the text should be
read-only. It's meant to be used by pharmacies, and not edited. However, I'm
not much of a perl person- preferring C++ myself, but I would appreciate
your perl source, if you could provide it. I would appreciate any help you
could provide!

Devil's advocate (re: Leonard), however- how would PDF forms work with
PoDoFo? Is there a sample I can play around with?

Forms are the PERFECT answer for what Robert is talking about.

Unless you apply security to the PDF, the "Dear Mrs. Smith" is editable.
Forms don't change that.
