Dear Poland-L members:

All along I knew that the number of Polish Americans is around 10 million
people. Some put it even around 12 million. That was based on the 1990
Census. I remember seeing a table giving breakdown by state where sum of the
Polish Americans in all states was just below 10 million -- I think it was
like 9.9 million. Recently, I am told that this number is more like 6.9
million. It is a big difference, 30% less. Does anybody know which numbers
are really correct? Could you please help me to understand where is the
difference coming from?

I think it is important question for the Polish community to know what the
real numbers are.
