Yet he's running for governor here. Already struggling to prove that he does in fact live in the state where he’s running to reclaim his old Senate seat, Democrat Evan Bayh got his Indianapolis address wrong over the weekend in an interview with a local TV station.
Bayh, who left the Senate in 2011, told WISH-TV <http://wishtv.com/2016/08/20/bayh-addresses-indiana-voting-status-controversy/> that his address is 1142 C, Canterbury Court in Indianapolis and added that “it’s on my driver’s license.” But according to the Independent Journal Review, which reviewed the former senator’s records with Indiana’s bureau of motor vehicles, Bayh’s actual address is 1142 Canterbury Square, not court. The address Bayh told WISH-TV is several blocks away from where he actually lives. The former senator’s fumbling of his own Indiana address comes amid attacks against him that he no longer lives in Indiana. CNN reported <http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/18/politics/evan-bayh-inactive-voting-status-indiana/> last week that Bayh’s voter registration in Indiana was inactive, the second time that has happened since he left the Senate. A separate CNN report <http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/15/politics/evan-bayh-indiana-residence/>, also published last week, showed that before jumping into the Indiana Senate race, Bayh had regularly listed his Washington D.C. mansion as his official address. A quick check on Zillow shows this to be a 1200sf condo that is worth $59K. Compare that to two multi-million dollar ones he owns in Washington, DC, and the one he just purchased in Florida. Just three weeks after leaving office in 2011, Bayh changed his address to his $2.3 million home in a leafy neighborhood in Washington, according to Indiana records. And often when Bayh registered his address -- whether it was on an Alaska fishing license, a donation to Hillary Clinton or on the deed to his beachfront property in Southern Florida -- he listed Washington as his home. Even when Bayh returned back to Indianapolis last summer for an Indiana Democratic Party dinner, he stayed at a JW Marriott just 12 miles away from his condo. A source with Indianapolis Power and Light said Bayh's monthly electric bills averaged less than $20 per month since 2012, suggesting little -- if any -- use at his Indiana condo. http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/15/politics/evan-bayh-indiana-residence/ Surely this will hurt his chances of winning.
