==== The Constitutionality of the Fairness Doctrine was brought into question on numerous occasions not only before the Supreme Court, as Gaar just demonstrated, but in numerous federal District and Circuit Courts. That is one of the reasons for the Fairness Doctrine's demise over twenty years ago. Today, with the way that the mainstream media has become so partisan, (and that is a fact, even the Washington Post as well as the New York Times, NBC and CBS have all recently, like this week, admitted to this fact) the Fairness Doctrine will literally cause a number of media outlets to shut their doors. As I said yesterday, I cannot envision ABC, CBS or NBC continuing a nightly news broadcast if such a doctrine becomes law once again. Shows that were once considered entertainment, I surmise will also be open game to trial court attorneys, like for instance Gaar's example, "The Late Show With David Letterman", The View with Barbara Walters and that red headed whore, I forget her name. Shows like Boston Legal, "24" ; *e.g*.; a variety of what was once considered "entertainment" will now in the New Millennium be subject to the same standards as those few conservatives on talk radio. Of course, another option, is that it could very well be the demise of the public airwaves, other than networks like PBS. I surmise that the liability of any major network would be too great, to air the kind of shows that are currently on broadcast television. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Thanks for being part of "PoliticalForum" at Google Groups.
