You are truly amazing. You have NO idea about what is happening just to your South other tha MSM reports and you TRY to come accross as knowledgable and or informed. Powers of deduction such as yours on subjects about street demonstrations and what sets them off is just sad but typical for a Gringo.
A massive and violent demonstration can be set off by a bad call in a football (soccer to you) game, a normal and expected rise in gas prices, ticketing taxis for NOT using the Maria (meter), along with various a sundry other minor (to you) reasons. As long as Hugo takes his " “Peoples of the Americas are rising once again, saying no to imperialism, saying no to fascism, saying no to intervention -- and saying no to death,”, "“We must confront the privileged elite who have destroyed a large part of the world.”, "“Convinced as I am and as I am from my government that the world needs a new moral architecture over all I believe that this should be the first topic to debate in our world of today, ethics, moral.” attitudes against the US and the status quo it desires the media will hang every demonstration on his head. He is NOT a saint, but he is NOT a Bush either. The biggest complaint in Venezuela is that he stomped on the "super rights" enjoyed by the wealthy. This is also a big part of why he was re-elected. Imagine a leader that thinks everyone is equal and can not "buy" their way to criminal, civil or social "justice" as they had done for many years and as is still done in your country. The difference being you are now too fat and lazy and apathetic to protest. Unless you are familiar with the traditions and methods historically used in Latin America by its people and can identify the root cause of a demonstration by looking at it please do not try to tell us what it is about. It is one thing to ask the brash why they are there demonstrating as you do........ ask the quiet walker and get the truth. As to your assumption that all things be judged by US standards..... The problem is the US does not like anyone taking the word "sovereignity" and using it in the same way they use it themselves along with ALL that that word implies. The US has NO rights, real or philosophic, inside the borders of another nation. The historic model of this protectionism is your "Monroe Doctrine". No national policy has ever been more Imperialistic or depressive of the rights of other nations; yet you squeal like stuck pigs whenever someone else tries to press their rights to do the same within their own "sphere" of influence and "protect" their own ways of life with the same methods. Morality, Thy name is NOT U.S.A. Not even close.
