Once the police the man present lived there they were in the process of leaving. Gates came out the door shouting at them and calling them racist and only questioning him because he was black. They tried to calm him down and he kept shouting at them and calling them names. Clearly disorderly conduct. The cops have the recording from the shoulder mic of Crowley showing that Gates was at fault. They were there because a neighbor called that 2 men were breaking into the house. Then Gates gets arrested, calms down and gets released. Charges are dropped. Gates calls his daughter who is a newspaper reporter and has an "interview" with her which gets published claiming that the Cambridge cops are racist and he was only arrested because he was black. He was arrested because he was an a@@hole and was creating a disturbance. That is bad enough but then the president, in the middle of a news conference about the healthcare legislation, veers off and without knowing the facts of the case, as he himself admitted, calls the Cambridge cops racist because they arrested his buddy who could do no wrong. The word goes out on the Dem 8:30 AM phone call to push this story and like a good little soldier VT does just that. The fact that the story is wrong doesn't matter. What matters is trying to shove the story off onto the cops and the GOP so that the Dems can once again try to play the race card. I am just wondering how long before we have Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton showing up outside the Cambridge police department with their rent-a-crowd holding a protest about the Cambridge cops being racist. The other funny part is that this is a cop who has been detailed by the state to give speeches and courses on how to deal with racism. The stupidity of the Dems even missed that one. And the man who hires him for these courses is a black officer who is a friend of Gates. VT, go back and learn what really happened and then talk about it. You are making an even bigger fool of yourself than usual here - and that is a REALLY BIG FOOL indeed.
