Depends on your reality, CW. Such a scenario seems extreme, yes, but
these are extraordinarily dangerous times. Not just externally, but
internally. The political class is now completely corrupt. The
congress has become a den of self-serving thieves. Local governments
have devolved into highwaymen and pickpockets. The people we elect
live by the lie on every level.
Not since 1859 have we been so close to the precipice. And it didn't
happen overnight. No, it's been a slow and steady progression into
government of the government, for the government. Where elected
officials become wealthy, and bureaucrats lock into retirement; a co-
conspiracy on an unprecedented level. While the people have been
plundered. The country is now running on paper, on faith, where one
reverse or variation will send us careening off the financial cliff.
Minimally, one in ten are now unemployed. Four in ten among young
people. Economic statisticians say the real unemployment level has
reached 17%. And there are two culprits; the congress, and OPEC - the
congress for the CRA, "affordable" housing, Fannie and Freddy, and
OPEC on behalf of Islamic terror.
Enter Obama; inexperienced, hapless, a congenital Utopian.
A military coup is a calculation, which leading up to the Iraq surge I
put at 60/40. Now I put it at 50/50, based on the hawks vs. the doves
inside the Pentagon. But this calculation is bound to trend upward due
to the administration's increasing ineptitude regarding Iran. Which,
finally, is a direct threat to our military complex.
Meanwhile, private citizens have been arming themselves to the teeth.
Not because they're especially worried about the 2nd Amendment, but
because they smell trouble. In fact, it seems to be a race between
private citizens and the military - revolution vs. a coup. Or both,
one generating the other.
If history teaches us anything, it's this: Hindsight is for
undertakers.
