Hollywood,

Thanks for the clarification.

As for the award itself;

1- Presidents Bush 41, Clinton and Bush 43 all had goals and programs
to reduce nuclear weapons. Obama continues that trend. Good thing, but
not unique or worthy of an award.
2- His efforts to ease tensions has mostly been appeasement of the
Muslim world via conciliatory comments which find fault with the prior
actions of the US and Israel. I consider this extremely dangerous, not
ground breaking or worthy of an award.
3- I agree with stressing diplomacy and cooperation – it truly is the
only way to succeed. However, expressing desire for and actually
accomplishing it are two different things.
4- Yeah, but he’s still carrying on those that he inherited. I don’t
blame him and I think he has to, but that is the reality of the
situation.

I’m dismissive of the award not because I don’t like Obama (which is
untrue, I do like him) but because I don’t believe he has earned it
through accomplishment. There are many, many people who share his
views on reduction of nuclear weapons, peace thru diplomacy, cleaning
up the environment, restoring health and prosperity to our country,
etc., etc. But as President you have to face the harsh realities of
how the world functions vs. utopian ideals. He’s been given this award
for having utopian ideals, nothing more (yet).
