As to the ability to report accurately... sorry you are indeed all wet on who you choose to believe. All "news" reports from whatever country are naturally biased first toward the originating nation and then from the faction to which the reporter (whether stated or not) proscribes and prescribes. In every five minute news story there are one or two facts buried and the rest is hyperbole, the trick is to discern what part of the dissemination can be relied on without letting your own bias get in the way. The best tool in doing this is to read the various accounts of the same story in their original language so you don't have a translator adding in what he thinks a particular phrase should mean. This leads us to the lack of basic language education and exposure suffered by the average "American" and their total reliance on that which makes them feel the "warmest and fuzziest" because it supports their own basic views. Your saying you must "one" should always be careful to "weigh " the terms of the proposed comparison.... make sure that they actually do equal up...... " leads us right back to relying on biased reporting,translations and the lack of language familiarity and ability.... for instance, English is my third language.... Just how many do you even have an inkling about outside English"?? Last, just what makes your source any better or any less biased than anyone else's based on your life experiences and personal contacts outside your own country that would give you one?? On what exact basis do you have any better insight than anyone else?? All that said it boils down to this.... unless you have been there and done that and or spoken directly to the people involved any and all reports will be biased in there text at least three times before it reaches your ears. To rely on this and argue the validity of one report or reporter over another that is not in its original language is just stupidity and breeds even more ignorant bias and discontent among the very peoples to which allegiance should be held... your countrymen. Opinions (and personal emotion) and differences are a wonderful thing if they are based on the facts alone without the emotions of another thrown in (to serve their own ends).
