Burning the bible, burning the flag, placing a crucifix in urine, desecrating 
religious (christian statutes), feces on the virgin mary, etc. have been 
protected under freedom of speech/expression.  Burn a koran or say something 
about muhammad and all of a sudden the freedoms are not extended.  Do you think 
that the double standard would exist if Obama wasn't in the white house?  He 
has bowed and kissed the rear of every middle eastern to the detriment of the 
rights of every u.s. citizen. I don't agree with the form of protest, but if 
it's protected in one situation it should be across the board.

and how is any of it justified, in your opinion (what reason or 
rationale)? 
I can see it (book-burning) as an act of protest, like burning the 
flag.... directed at a religion (as a hierarchy) instead of a 
nation... but what about the actual "content" or message of the 
religious text? Is that what is being "burned?
