Unfortunately, the trend seems to tend towards using multiple levels of NAT.
We, French people, know that Minitel-like systems suck.
(Minitel was a BBS-like service, for which you had to pay through the
nose, and where you could only exist if you were a big business ...
and it didn't have NTP ;)

Same here; used HE.net for years, before my ISP delivered IPv6
connectivity (to be fair, they began rolling it out a long time before
it reached me ;)
