Hi, The manual is on the Garmin website. You can find it here: http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/GPS_18x_Tech_Specs.pdf
You need to read section 4.1.2. You could try adjusting your terminal program first to see if you can fine the baud rate the Garmin is running on as opposed to trying to change the unit as this can be a little challenging. The possible NMEA baud rates are 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400. Any tips on how to modify the 18LVC speed? I've long since lost any manuals for this device. I know on mine there is a way to change this to a value that you wish. All detailed in the manual from memory. I did a simple wiring arrangement to make sure nothing involving LEDs or Resistors was causing my problems. But in looking at the data feed via the COM port, all I see is garbage and can only assume one thing, "A busted Garmin Receiver". In comparison I cabled up a Sure Electronics board just to make sure the Port, Cabling, etc wasn't a possible issue with the problems I'm seeing. Any suggestions on what might be at fault are appreciated.
