Thank you.  I disabled Pacemaker, however, this didn’t help much. In the
end I also had to download and install the latest version of NTP. This has
resolved the issue. In my opinion, Apple should fix what they broke when
they distributed 10.9.1 and 10.9.2.   Maybe 10.9.3 will resolve the issue,
but I am not counting on it.
