Thanks J, for the the definitive word on these accounts. I did think the
game might be up when I could send to another account on their service but
not to any address outside their domain. I can always switch the SMTP to my
local provider's but it won't be quite the same. They will be downgraded to
the bottom of my polling list.  <grrr>

One can become unreasonably attached to e-mail services that work without a
hitch, for there are so few of them. 

How difficult would it have been to have sent out an announcement to their
users about the change in their services or even posted a notice on the
website? **Zonnet.nl** seems to be able to notify its users of outages of
even a temporary nature.

"April is the cruellest month." (T.S. Eliot) and rather taxing on POP3
services as well.
