a build-only dependency on python is not a problem.

Perhaps this could be the other way round; standard flavour having the
usual dependencies as found on other OS (xhash, zstd, lz4) and a -light
flavour without deps. It only helps mirror operators if people are
actually using the flavour which has lower-CPU compression.

Maybe whoever it was that complained last time (commit log doesn't
say who and I can't remember) would like to comment?

Anyway yes this doesn't need to hold up the update.
