If you want to change my feeling, can't you at least chroot it and make it run as a non-privileged user? And please don't MAKE it a dependency. Leave OpenBSD lpd(8) as a viable minimalist option for those print needs are not so beastly sophisticated as to require government classification header pages and extra security holes.
