Haven't seen it for a long time but my vague memories of "The Thing
Called Love" are that River Phoenix wasn't quite all there (I think
it was one of his last movies)- and that Jimmie Dale's appearance
amounted to him going on stage. His song could be heard in the
distance while the action moved elsewhere. As always I would have
settled for way more JDG
