Is that the GrooveGrass 101 that I've seen out at the store for a while now?
There are 2 different albums; I occasionally enjoy the first one, and there
are 2 straight bluegrass cuts by the Del McCoury Band - a remake of "I Feel
The Blues Movin' In" and a blistering "White House Blues," both of which
turn up on my playlists fairly regularly, plus a hidden cut ("The Old
Account Was Settled") that also appears on the Del, Doc & Mac album. I
haven't bought the second one (is that what you have, Don? Doc, Mac,
Bootsy?) yet, largely because I suspect this is a one-trick pony. Still, in
all fairness to Scott Rouse - even though he has the bad sense to be friend
to Jeff Wall - he wasn't aiming the same place as Garing, so a comparison on
which one hit it better isn't wholly justified. With the earlier
GrooveGrass stuff, at least - including the "Rocky Top 96" single (which
sold way more copies than anything the Osborne Brothers have done in years,
BTW) - the target was the dance floor, both urban and icky-poo line dance
types.
