You want a robust server and a robust client implementation.
Historically, one of the best NFS implementations is Sun's, on the server
side also of course NetApp. AFAIK the *BSD NFS servers and clients are
reasonably solid. Older Linux NFS servers and clients have had various
issues, but more recent versions may prove robust.
