Bingo. Thanks.

In my defence, if you look at https://www.postfix.org/postconf.5.html
which purports to list all of the main.cf parameters, you
will find smtp_sasl_type but not smtpd_sasl_type. I saw it in
the sasl page but thought it was a typo.

Perhaps someone could add the missing section to the postconf page?

Hi John

glad it's working.

I checked https://www.postfix.org/postconf.5.html and I can see:

smtpd_sasl_type (default: cyrus)
The SASL plug-in type that the Postfix SMTP server should use for authentication. The available types are listed with the "postconf -a" command.

This feature is available in Postfix 2.3 and later.

While Wietse is not infallable, I'm pretty sure he's close to it in regards to Postfix :-)

John
