I would also say that such deduplication - if it were possible - would make
it harder to catch config errors.

If (hypothetically) I made a config error that results in mails being
delivered twice, I want to KNOW it, so I can find and fix it. If
deduplication would take place, I wouldn't know that I made a mistake.
