This error is logged in non-verbose mode.
In master.cf you have "pipe ... user=vmail". Either there is no
such user in the password database, or you have incorrect access
permissions so that an unprivileged postfix process cannot access
the password database.
This error happens entirely before Postfix executes any Dovecot
software, and therefore logfile permissions are a red herring.
