according to my logs google mailservers close connection to my SMTP about 30
seconds after mail was send (or rejected).
Looks like you have lowered smtpd_timeout to 20 seconds, in which case smtp
server closes connection sooner.
Or, your machins is under stress and has timeout 20 seconds in this case.
the default:
smtpd_timeout = ${stress?{10}:{300}}s
