Over the last 25+ years, Postfix appends the domain that is configured
in the myorigin setting.
Typically, that's one of:
myorigin = $myhostname (the default)
myorigin = $myomain
You may want to check the output from this command:
postconf -x myorigin myhostname mydomain
HOWEVER Postfix will not append a domain if your mail command
already provides one.
