I've uploaded one more version which has a couple of safety checks 
in it to try to make sure all tray icons are captured.  
Unfortunately, I have not been able to test them, as I almost never 
lose tray icons on my machine.

I am not sure about your last sentence, but if you mean should I try 
installing pprotray as a service:  I don't know how to do this.  I 
think services have to be written differently than ordinary programs 
for XP.

Any, I hope the latest helps.  I am running out of ideas.

Downloaded new version with the old link: 
I moved startup items back to the registry. Tray support installed
in Winlogon with the option "!". Rebooted two times and it works
fine here. Thanks!
