woot! I found the problem and now it seems to be working fine.

When I rebooted the system, I noticed the Pprotray.exe program
running. I now suspect that it was left running from a previous failed
attempt to get the program to work? Anyway, I terminated that program
and restarted PowerPro and it's now working where it hadn't before.
I've got auto-hide, context menu, &c so I'm now one happy fellow.

Sorry for any fail-alarm on this.
