Hold it guys, let's go back to the start of this thread:

Janice said that she had a PowerCD, but no adapter for it. She did 
however, have a different adapter which was 9vac - 1 amp and wanted to 
know if it would work.

Fabian came on and gave her the specs from his PowerCD adapter: 10VDC - 
1 amp.

Bruce is right that an ac adapter has no polarity, but that doesn't 
change the fact that pumping AC through a DC circuit is an exciting 
thing, complete with sparks, smoke and the snap, crackle and pop of 
dying components.

I do hope that Janice hasn't tried using that adapter yet.
