Gary, I did a quick check of this site, but no mention
of a 3400 (and the puny 1.3 Gig original drive) that I
use. And yes, using 8.6 OS, the drive has a tendancy
to spin down. (It was not a clean install of 8.6, but
a dump from the first CD I ever burned.)
Cheers
George

"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all
 thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with
 all thy strength, and with all thy mind;
 and thy neighbour as thyself."
 Quoted from St Luke, 10:27.
