My mistake ...

I really meant what non-Cardbus, maximally compatible (meaning, compatible
with an 801.11g-type wireless station) card can I get for my 5300, knowing that
later I may be going to G for a new Cardbus-supporting PB, but right now I
want to maintain support for my 5300, and I need a 5300-compatible card in order
to do so.

If that's B for the 5300, then that's certainly OK.
