Get 8.6 or at least make sure to download the update. Also, if you ever get a G3 upgrade for the machine, be aware that you will have to get 9.1, 8.6 has problems running the upgrades. Finally, with a g3 upgrade and sys 9.1, you will need to download from apple a new startup disk control panel called 9.2 start up disk control panel.
