Of course, I meant "... Zip vs. a CD-ROM would be interesting as both of these media share the same connector". So far, the user has swapped devices which share the same IDE connector. If the Kanga's IDE connector is damaged (possible), or its supporting logic is damaged (less likely), the surely a 3400's CD-ROM which is known to work in that machine likely will not work in the Kanga.
