I think you are limited to "b" as there is no pre-OS X software that supports "g" cards. I use an Orinoco Gold in my 3400. It works directly with the Airport software but I had to install the software manually using TomeViewer.

Hi i use an intel pro wireless card in my 3400 with the ioxperts drivers connected to a Netgear router (wireless) and it is nice and stable. Thats the only book i have never had signal drop outs with.
