The issue is NOT absorbing reflections, per se, rather it IS providing a 
definite "level", as the SCSI spec specifies (and requires) 
open-collector drivers and Schmitt trigger receivers, and an open 
collector driver, by definition, cannot provide a definite (voltage) 
level, it can only "sink" a current from an external source.

The internal pull-up resistor within the receiver chip within the target 
(drive) itself is usually enough to provide this "level". The same is 
true of the receiver chip within the host (PwerBook) itself.
