I'm using an Orange Micro USB/Firewire drive with a logitech cordless
wheel mouse on a PTP 225. It's not optical, but sure is nice not having
that cord around. The PCI card has 2 ports each for firewire and usb. I
plug a camcorder into the Firewire, and it wasn't long before I had to
get a USB hub for my Handspring, digital camera, mouse and scanner. The
hub (the cheapest Belkin 4 port I could find) doesn't deliver enough
power, so the scanner is plugged directly into the card, but the only
problems I seem to have is when the cord gets loose.
The card was about $120 and came with Premeire LE. There's a newer model
now - I'm not sure if any software is included.
