Hello, all, I'm using a Power Center Pro 240 that's been upped to a G3/400 with an XLR8 card. And running OS 8.6.
My main problems are centered on the Ultra SCSI bus. The internal drive seems to be rock solid. I do have two externals on that buss, though, and they are problematic. While there has been no loss of data, problems include: The computer freezes on start-up (as soon as the cursor appears) unless I have the drive set for id5 switched on. If the drive is switched off, the computer will not boot. With it on, all is fine (sort of). There are other issues regarding data transfers with the disk freezing up in the middle of the process. Also, the drive on id 3 randomly freezes as well. In this case, there is a very weird noise just before the freeze that comes form the drive. Both are Seagates (hmmmmm...). Also the Board Control control panel is a big mystery to me. The online help seems ok if one knows what one is doing, otherwise I would love some more technical information. Any suggestions regarding drive set up, SCSI id's, drivers, etc, would be most welcome. Thanks in advance for any help. best James Mironchik New York, NY [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Power Computing is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Power Computing list info: <http://lowendmac.com/power/list.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/powercomputing%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
