I would double check your SCSI ID #'s and which bus they are on. If one device on the chain is working then termination should not be the problem. Try the scanner on another Mac or has it been used on something before.

My PTP 250 has both 50 pin SCSI connectors on the board and the external one is labeled "external SCSI" . Apparently the idea is to be able to have a 2nd SCSI bus inside the box, but you have to be careful not to use the same ID #'s on the 2 ext. SCSI busses.

One thing I did to fix CD problems is to add the old Apple CD driver from System 7 something. It works with every CD-ROM, CD-R, & CD-RW I have ever tried. All were non Apple optical drives. Email me and I can send you the extension because I can't remember where I found it.

On my CD-RW if the CD is blank it won't show on the desktop unless mounted by burning software and can only be ejected with the button until something is on the CD.

SCSI termination is usually at the motherboard internally (id 7). A physical terminator should be at the other end of the entire chain, after the last unit. IDs do not need to be in any kind of order on the chain. System profiler may not show the scanner yet it still may function with the correct software. System profiler may not show the cd media if it is not formatted or mounted properly (driver). You did not mention if the cdrw was internal or external, and other devices on the chain. Some version of PTP and Apple have 2 SCSI busses, an internal and an external. If you have both, there should be two 50pin connectors on the motherboard.

RE: PTP 225. Is there supposed to be a terminator on the SCSI plug #1 on the motherboard? I've got a Scanner at ID 6 which it does not recognize and a CD-RW at ID 5. The CD-RW shows up on Apple Profiler but the media (CD disk) doesn't.

The scanner doesn't show up on Apple Profiler ...
