I routinely make bootable CDs.

For these, I use the Norton SystemWorks CD as a start.

I believe it is 9.0 plus some patches. It has a Mac OS ROM file, so it is 
designed with "new world" machines in mind, too.

It boots on every machine I have, and except for the Norton "splash", it 
is fine.

Oh, works on my PTP 225s, too.
