Zach, I think that you find that other users have experiences a false rate due to mechanical shock i.e., dropping the dosimeter. As rugged as the dosimeter is, it is not 100% shock proof. Your alarm response program should evaluate both the potential for an alarm to have been caused by shock as well as actually radiation. Older dosimeters can experience this condition more frequently because they have had more time to be used / dropped by workers. Dropping a dosimeter can damage sensitive electronics or jar the battery connections momentarily inducing an alarm..
