SONGS calibration frequencies are based mostly on error rates (as found values >10% or >20%, which is  out of tolerance).  New instruments start with semiannual calibrations, and adjustments to either quarterly or annual are possible after a record builds up.  High error rates with quarterly calibrations = replace.

What calibration periodicity (semi annual, annual, other) is used for RP/ HP equipment used at your facility...

(Fermi, currently semi-annual for all except WBC and gamma spec systems which are annual)
  • handheld instruments
  • continuous air monitors
  • electronic dosimeters
  • stationary (PCM, SAM, etc)
  • counting equip (WBC, gamma spec, alpha / beta counters)
Do you allow a grace period (or extension of cal due date) for RP /HP equipment calibrations such as that specified in your TS / TRM for plant equipment surveillances?

(Fermi - no)

Thanks, Benjy
